Imagine this: the scent of incense fills the air, church bells ring in harmony, and thousands of candles illuminate the night as the Greek community comes together to celebrate the most important holiday of the year – Orthodox Easter. On the idyllic island of Paros, you’ll experience Easter like nowhere else.

Preparations begin on Holy Thursday, when families gather to dye eggs deep red. This symbolic tradition represents the blood of Christ and serves as a moment of reflection and hope.

With its rich traditions and heartfelt hospitality, Paros offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the deep spiritual meaning of Easter. The Epitaphios procession on Good Friday, where the entire village gathers for a solemn march adorned with flowers and hymns, is a moment of serene beauty. On Holy Saturday, the Resurrection of Christ is celebrated with a spectacular midnight ceremony, as fireworks light up the night sky and the words “Christos Anesti” (Christ is Risen) echo through the streets.

And then comes the Easter Sunday feast: succulent grilled lamb, traditional dishes like magiritsa and tsoureki, and a joyful atmosphere where family and friends come together to celebrate.

At Onira, we help you experience this unforgettable event up close, focusing on authentic moments and sharing the local culture. Whether religious or not, Orthodox Easter in Paros will touch your heart and show you the true essence of connection.
